In life there are many things that cause stress. Work, school, and family are something that give a lot of stress. Having too much stress can cause a lot of harm to a persons body. This author tells about how a pet helps her let her stress out. Her article is called Opinion: Owning a Pet in College Is a Great Experience, Can Reduce Stress and Anxiety for Many Students. Some ways to reduce stress are having a pet, listening to music, and exercising.

Pets help relieve stress by making you feel loved and helping you forget to worry about what is so stressful. If you have a dog you have to take them out of a walk. That walk can give your mind a break from what is stressing you out. Any pet that you have will be there for you when you need a break. Shelby Bordes, who is the author of the article, “Owning a pet in college is a great experience, can reduce stress and anxiety for many students”, says, “A pet could help students navigate a middle ground, since they’re thinking of and taking care of something other than themselves”(Bordes). This is so true because when you have to focus on taking care of your cat or dog you will but the school work or the argument you just had with your parents behind and focus on the pet.

Another way to reduce stress is by listening to music. Music can take your mind to a different world where there is no stress. Having music that calms you down will eventually help the stress just start to drift away. From the article, “The Power of Music To Reduce Stress”, it says, “As music can absorb our attention, it acts as a distraction at the same time it helps to explore emotions” (Collingwood). This proves that music can take away stress. The way music takes our attention, causes the stress to not have any attention in our minds.

Lastly, another way to reduce stress is by exercising. Exercising works so well because you are doing something physical that is not making you stressed. Your mind is being focused on getting the exercise done instead of the assignment you have to do. From the article, “Exercise for Stress and Anxiety” it says “This can be especially helpful when stress has depleted your energy or ability to concentrate”(ADAA). This tells us that exercise gives you energy and helps you concentrate more. Exercise make the brain grow and learn how to manage the stress.

Stress can really harm a person’s body. Taking your dog on a walk helps take your mind off of school work. Listening to music helps get your mind into a different place so you are less stressed. Exercising gives you energy and helps you concentrate instead of being stressed. If you do not find a good stress reliver, you could end up harming yourself.
